I loved this comment. It’s a reminder that reading erotic stories need not be a solitary pursuit. If you have a partner, why not lure them to bed with the promise of a bedtime story?

In case you haven’t read it, Treasure Hunt is a story of erotic improvisation and inventiveness. At one point, one of the protagonists is tied to the bed naked and relentlessly teased, forced to listen on helplessly to devilishly arousing stories.

Perhaps you’ve never considered the erotic power of just a voice and an imagination. You should.

Imagine your lover is lying on the bed, perhaps bound and blindfolded, at the mercy of your voice. You begin to read, and they have no choice but to listen, to submit to the sound of your voice, as your words slowly start to paint vivid pictures in their mind.

Or imagine you’re sitting on your sofa, and you put your lover over your knee. Perhaps you’re reading from a iPad or tablet resting on their back, every now and then pausing to stroke the screen to move to the next page, each time following it with a corresponding stroke between their legs. You unwind the story into their ear, rubbing and patting their bottom as the inevitable spanking approaches. What happens next has already been written, frozen into words many months ago, yet the listener must wait, as the storyteller brings the moment of their discipline closer, word by word, sentence by sentence.

Suddenly, a story shared becomes a playground, with endless opportunities for improvisation. How will the storyteller interpret that lifted skirt, that nervous wait or that furtive glimpse? If a character in the story pleasures themselves, who should enjoy the delight in the real world, the reader – or the listener – or both together? If story has anal sex, perhaps the storyteller’s finger will linger over the listener’s hole, leaving them to wonder whether that finger will push any deeper as the story unfolds…

Isn’t it time you read your lover a bedtime story?
