The SpankingTheatre Review of the Year

image

As 2016 fades away, what better time to look back through what I’ve written during the course of the year, and choose some of my favourite posts…

  • In January, I wrote an article on After Spanking – with advice on how to utilise the erotic energy generated by a spanking.
  • In February, I finished the finale of Coming of Age, with a romantic flourish that I found very satisfying.
  • In March, I posted the poem Slowly, which seemed to strike a chord with many, it’s my most popular piece of poetry.
  • In April, I wrote the first part of The Sit Down Dance, a super hot story of mischief and panty-pulling.
  • In May, I really enjoyed this submission from a reader who was discovering the delights of self-spanking.
  • In June, there was this exquisite description of being spanked, inspected and figged.
  • In July, I posted the very popular Beginner’s Guide to Self-Spanking, the precursor to several subsequent DIY spanking challenges.
  • In August, I finished the second part of The Sit Down Dance, which made me (and many other readers) very happy.
  • In September I wrote a post on What Nice Men Don’t Say to Nice Women, dealing with the challenges of introducing kinky play into relationships.
  • In October, for Halloween, I wrote a brand new gothic spanking story, Stolen Essence. which I think came together beautifully.
  • In November – I finished another new story called Control, the kind of tale I like to think Machiavelli would’ve written if he’d penned spanking stories.
  • And in December, a Christmas present in the form of a Naughty Game for Two, which might yet turn into a new series of its own.

The calendar year 2016 was disappointing for many reasons, a year of heroes lost and cherished dreams broken. But the fantasy worlds we build inside our heads are ours alone, and should always be a source of satisfaction.

So keep imagining marvellous things.

And I wish you all a wonderful new year.

Share the joy of the written word

spankingtheatre:

For many, holiday time provides a time to read. Perhaps you’d like to enjoy a story or two yourself? Here are all the stories I’ve written, ordered by their popularity with readers…

I think some of those stories deserve a bit more love, don’t you? Especially some of the undiscovered gems at the bottom of the list.

Most erotic pictures routinely get hundreds or even thousands of likes, but written posts rarely achieve a fraction of that. Yet original writing is the result of a great deal of creative effort, and it needs its own champions. So, if you find erotic words arousing, perhaps you’ll share a few of your favourites?

Even better – why not add a few words beneath any story you repost? Just a
sentence or two explaining why you enjoyed it, and why your own readers
might want to invite that story into their own imaginations. It is the season of sharing after all, why not give the gift of erotic words?

Christmas Present

spankingtheatre:

There is a message within a message in every handwritten note, a subtle impression of the writer’s soul. Here, her handwriting wrote with the elegant fluency that only comes from the heart, the ebony stream flowing from her fountain pen slowly transcribing a secret she’d never ever dared reveal. How could a small rectangle of plain white card ever hope to contain something of such importance?

It made her shiver to see her secret written out so explicitly in an undulating line of black on white. It was as if her private fantasy had finally escaped from the gilded cage in which she had kept it hidden all these years. She was beginning to realise that on this little piece of card she had inscribed a magic spell, and those twenty-four words were imbued with the power to change her entire world. That was scary.

And also, she had to admit to herself, rather exciting.

Tinsel and baubles glimmered in the candlelight. She was sitting at the dining room table, alone for the evening, a chance to wrap christmas presents for the nearest and dearest. One present had particular significance, it was the one into which she’d slip the note she was writing. But only if she was bold enough.

A lump of sanded driftwood occupied the middle of the table, a platform for the tall fat candle that illuminated the room, its warm brightness complementing the colourful glow of the christmas tree fairylights. She looked into the flickering flames, turning the little card between her fingers. Over and over. Prevaricating, hesitating. Reading and re-reading what she’d written, checking the spelling, wondering if she’d said enough, or far too much, feeling the cool sharp points of the card’s crisp corners tingle her fingertips.

“My love”, it began.

“I’ve been fascinated by spanking since I was a girl.”

“I long for it, I crave it.”

“Please. Will you spank me?”

Self-Spanking Challenge #11: Christmas Story

This 11th instalment of the Self-Spanking Challenge is a festive special! Newcomers can find previous challenges here.

Challenge – Day 11

In previous challenges, you’ve acted out your own fantasies, in this challenge, you’re going to explore what it’s like to act out a scene from someone else’s imagination, by improvising a scene from a story. And afterwards, you’re going to write about your vicarious experience…

Appropriately enough for this time of year, the story I’ve chosen for you is Christmas Present. If you haven’t already read it, you might want to read it now. The scene you’ll be enacting begins with the words:

Nancy sat on the bed compliantly.

“You’ve been a very naughty girl,” he said, as he began to close the door.

Then, just before the door shut, a line that would burn itself into her imagination:

“I’ve half a mind to put you over my knee.”

And continues until the narrator climaxes at the end of the section.

During the scene, you’ll be imagining yourself as heroic adventurer Nancy Jones (or Nathan Jones for boys). If you have appropriate garments, why not start by dressing up in a suitable costume?

The story involves a spanking with a slipper, but you can improvise with whatever implements you possess. During the course of the scene you’ll see there’s a conversation between Nancy and the Baron. Say both lines of dialogue aloud, using a different voice for each.

When the story calls for it, slowly pull down your panties, baring your bottom before it’s time to bend over. Then pick up your favoured implement and give yourself the good hard spanking the story describes. You can continue spanking until you feel your bottom is sore enough…

Afterwards, follow the direction of the story as you’re sent to stand in the corner, and hold your bottom apart. Place your phone or tablet somewhere nearby, so you can continue to read the dialogue.

If you want to experience the climax of the scene, lube or wet one of your fingers in your mouth, and place it against your bottom hole, and slowly impale yourself upon it. You may not have tried masturbating anally before, if so, now’s your chance to try it.

The section ends with the narrator experiencing an intense climax, I’m sure you’ll be keen to emulate that too.

Once you’ve come, you may sit down on your sore bottom and begin writing. You may write publicly on your blog, or privately in your own journal.

I challenge you to describe your vicarious experience – what was it like to play the character of Nancy (or Nathan) Jones? What was it like following the dialogue and actions in the story text rather than improvising your own fantasy? Did you find it harder or easier to spank yourself given you had surrendered control to the story?

Is this the first time you’ve re-enacted a scene from a spanking story? Does this challenge make you see spanking stories in a different light, as screenplays to potentially act out, rather than just naughty words to masturbate to?

If you post your write-up, don’t forget to add the tags #selfspankingchallenge and #selfspankingchallenge11

Hopefully this challenge will have given you some ideas. There are now a lot of stories on this blog, and hence a huge number of very erotic scenes you might like to try acting out. I think those with adventurous imaginations could have a lot of fun. Consider this my Christmas Present, to you.

Happy holidays!

Naughty Games for Two #1: The Hour

Most of the naughty games I’ve posted so far have been for a single player, but we’re social animals, and it’s even better to play with someone else, even if they’re far away. This game combines the anticipation of waiting, with the jeopardy of an uncertain outcome. Share with someone special, and enjoy…

How To Play

These instructions assume one player is the bottom, who will be spanked, and another is the top, who will be supervising or performing the spanking.

The game begins at a time of the bottom’s choosing, who dresses up for the occasion. They might put on a school uniform, or similar roleplay outfit. Or they might choose something sexier and more revealing.

Perhaps the bottom will gamble when they get dressed, leaving their tie
undone, or wearing sexy knickers instead of plain panties, or even
wearing nothing underneath a skirt at all. They might get away with it,
but if they do get caught, they know their spanking will be even longer
and harder.

Once dressed up, the bottom should take a picture of themselves and send it to the top. Perhaps they’ll include a teasing or provocative message to their playmate. The clock starts ticking whenever they hit the send button.

And then the bottom waits.

The top has exactly one hour to reply. If they do manage to reply before the deadline, the bottom can expect to be thoroughly inspected and be thoroughly spanked until they are pink and sore…

But it’s equally possible that the top might also be busy, and not able to reply. Particularly if the bottom has been cunning, and cleverly timed their message to coincide with a period when they know the top is occupied.

If the top doesn’t reply within one hour, the bottom escapes a spanking and gets to play with themselves as soon as the hour is up. Having been anticipating a smacked bottom for an hour, the bottom is likely to be highly aroused, and will have no difficulty in coming hard, imagining the spanking and inspection they so narrowly missed.

The delight of this game is that as the clock ticks towards the deadline, the bottom gets to enjoy the nerve-tingling anxiety of never quite knowing if they’ll be spanked or not. It will feel like sitting in the detention room, glancing at the clock, uncertain whether the headmaster would be turning up to administer your punishment.

The bottom can decide how they’ll spend their time waiting. Perhaps they’ll read, or  watching some distraction. Or perhaps they’ll just imagine their fate, fingers straying. But no climaxing until the full hour is up.

As each minute passes, the bottom will feel the jeopardy building. Knowing at any moment their phone might chirp, and it might be because it’s a message from their playmate.

If the top does reply, and is nearby, they can inspect and spank the bottom when they get home. If the top is distant, the bottom can spank themselves at the top’s direction and send the results.

And that is the joy of The Hour Game. When the bottom gets dressed, they’ll experience the delicious trepidation of never quite knowing what will happen in the next 60 minutes. Will they get an orgasm or a well-smacked bottom? How will this particular episode end?

After all, what fun is a game if you always know its outcome?

Have fun, and a very enjoyable Christmas!

Seasonal Suggestion: In the spirit of Christmas Present, perhaps you should share this post with the person you’d most like to spank you. You could even print it out, put it in an envelope, and hide it under the Christmas Tree…

Spanking in Literature

image

Image by Martin van Maële from the novel Camille et Moi, 1904.

I wonder, will we ever see a BDSM Shakespeare, a kinky Austen or paraphiliac Dickens?
Or will erotica always be a secret pleasure, lurking in the shadows, to be enjoyed in secret? Ghettoised in its own sub-genre, to be discussed only in sniggers and whispers.

Will we even see a playwright or author who is acknowledged as a literary giant,
and who writes works where BDSM features prominently? Imagine if there’d been a Victorian writer of the calibre of Dickens, whose stories featured
sexual discovery and powerplay relationships rather than lost wills and
orphans.

Although Dickens did describe canings, corporal punishment being commonplace in Victorian times, there was very little chance of him writing an erotic spanking scene. Although Victorian themed roleplaying remains a highly popular theme, a fantasy world of maids and stately homes, strict schoolmasters and fearsome governesses, the age itself was prudish and sexually conservative. Consequently the great literature of the age shied away from erotic themes, and lust became an abstract, almost economic motivation,  an urge to possess and marry…

Yet as far back as 1748, Fanny Hill was amongst the first works of pornography to adopt the emerging format of the novel. But alas, it was far too lewd for its time, and would become one of the most prosecuted and banned books in history, despite the fact the sex described is more bawdy than perverse. This was to set the precedent for future repression, and drive erotic writing underground.

By the latter half of the 19th century erotic works were still being written, of course, even by prominent writers and poets. But now they tended to be published anonymously and enjoyed discreetly. Who has ever heard of the fabulously titled comic opera Lady Bumtickler’s Revels? Or the paean to chastisement in The Whippingham Papers?

As culture liberalised in the early 20th century, a subgenre of flagellation fiction emerged, inspired by the works of de Sade and Sacher-Masoch,. These novels tended to be written in French, achieving peak popularity by the 1930s, but few of these fantasies are recognised as works of serious literature. Though you may have read the words of one such writer, Pierre Louys, on this very site.

After the war, post-modern literature became darker, and stories more morally ambiguous. What once was unsayable began to be written down, resulting in controversial novels like Lolita, a suggestive rather than explicit tale of obsessive love that ventures into the taboo. Or the occasional orgies described in Gravity’s Rainbow.

Perhaps there’s hope in contemporary novels that dare to explore the complex landscape of sexual desire. Books like Michel Faber’s The Crimson Petal and The White, a tale described by one critic as “the novel that Dickens might have written had he been allowed to speak freely”. But still, novels that feature kinky themes tend not to be considered literary novels – members of that esteemed group of cherished stories regarded as having the highest artistic merit. However unfair that categorisation might be.

Do you have a favourite work of erotic literature? Do share your suggestions, I’d love to hear them…
